Custom Console

A blend of form and function.

Sometimes a formal space also requires a practical function that may be at odds with its more polished guise. For this home in Lincon Park, we designed a custom console for the living room that kept things tidy while entertaining guests, hiding the relaxed nature of how the space was used day-to-day.

The console's design is a play on a traditional fireplace mantle.  With no fireplace in the home, the piece provides a central focus for the room and allows for a more formal space while still giving a place for casual movie night or watching a game with friends.

The doors are extraordinary and have custom designed alternating wood grain panels and hardware. The sliding hardware that allows the cabinet to be opened is discreetly hidden in the reveal between the base of the piece and it's stone top.

The husband wanted a TV in the living room but the wife didn't. So our solution was to design a custom TV cabinet also double as a mantel. The new mantel/cabinet creates an anchor for the living room. With the panel doors closed, the piece allows for a more formal living room experience, ready for entertaining. When it’s game or movie time, the doors slide open to reveal a television.
